Hi,
we would like to add the Paypal Guest checkout, so that users without paypal-account may use the paypal function. So far we were not able to get it running.
Paypal Express Setup
– we succeeded in processing payments with Paypal Express in Sandbox Mode and Live Mode
– Within PayPal we have
o switched the PayPal Account Optional ON.
o Instant Payment Notifications is switched ON and as transaction page we have entered the transaction page URL mentioned in EE Setup (OurDomain/transaktionen; german website)
o The PayPal button language encoding mentioned in this post (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/) seems to be removed.
When paying with PayPal, there is only the login-screen. There Is no guest payment possibility.
Is there something, we have forgotten or is there a possibility to check, whether the guest checkout can be used or not (there are posts indicating, that the guest checkout ist not available for all countries)?

Hi there,
Basically, in your PayPal account you can say if the Guest option should be a possibility duing checkout with this option:
switched the PayPal Account Optional ON.
But PayPal determine if they actually show it or not and that can be based on multiple factors.
The users country is one of them (they’ll use the users geoloaction data for it), risk is another (if they determine the transaction has risk factors they’ll not show guest checkout).
Have you tested using private/incognito windows, or cleared your browser’s cache?
Which country are you located in when testing?
Is there an event I can run a test registration on?

thank you for your quick reply. The site/server is located in Austria, me too. I have already seen, that there are several reasons, but during development there should be a possibility to check, whether the basic functionality is working or not. How can that be tested?

You can’t guarantee it will show to allow for testing, all you can do is allow it to be enabled on checkout and then PayPal decide if it shows or not, we can’t control that it at all.
There’s no ticket selector on that event so I can’t test it?

Ok, thank you. The Link should work now. I copied the single.php template to the Child Theme to do some modifications. But obviously it stoped rendering some EE data which effected also the test-events. I deleted this template and it should work.
