Paypal Express stopped working on our site icrctraining.com. It was working fine for over a year since we purchased EE4 and we have not changed anything. When customers click at the paypal logo they are not being redirected and a red box appears. I checked the logs and this error appears: http_request_failed cURL error 35: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure I found this discussion in the following link that seems related: I contacted my host (godaddy) and they verified that they are running both TLS 1.1 and 1.2 and asked me to ask paypal to check for both when they are trying to establish a connection to the godaddy server. The discussion with paypal so far has not gone anywhere. Any suggessions on how to fix this would be very helpful as now we cannot process any payments now on our website. I do not really have the expertise to know what to do next. Thank you. |

Hi Alexia, PayPal requires TLS1.2 and although the server may support it, its also working through other protocols during the handshake and because of that PayPal is rejecting the connection. We added code to prevent that from happening in version 4.9.65.p of Event Espresso but your site is currently running 4.9.21.p Is there something preventing you from updating Event Espresso? |

Tony, Can you please let me know how I update to the new version? I have not done this before. Will the update affect my site in any way? Do I need to save anything? Also, I see the following message in my dashboard: Thank you! |

Hi, We do recommend keeping all software up to date. Here’s a link to the documentation that outlines how to update Event Espresso 4:
Your site will have newer version of the software, you’ll likely notice very little change. If you want to know exactly what’s changed, the change logs have a list of what’s changed since 4.9.21:
No. It is recommended to do a database backup as part of a regular back up schedule. For example if you routinely back up your database weekly, it’d also be good to run a backup just before doing the updates. Generally speaking, updating to a newer version of WordPress will not affect your website. It appears that your site has WordPress 4.6, so the update to 4.9.8 will include only minor changes. There will be some major changes in WordPress 5.0 and you may want to install the Classic Editor plugin when WordPress 5.0 becomes available. |
