Paypal states:

Before June 30, 2018, PayPal is requiring all merchants to upgrade their security protocols to TLS 1.2, in line with the PCI mandate, and make the other required security upgrades. At that time, merchants will no longer be able to accept payments with PayPal until they make the necessary upgrades. Learn more about these requirements and how you can upgrade to avoid disruptions to your business.

Is this something that I need to configure to make Event Espresso work with the paypal express gateway?

Hi there,

EE doesn’t set an explicit protocol it just used the latest version the server supports so you should contact your host and confirm the server supports TLS1.2 (I would be surprised if they didn’t now to be honest, TLS1.2 requirements have been happening for a long time so most hosts have updated by now).

and if you want to check the server yourself, you can install this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/tls-1-2-compatibility-test/
and run the compatibility test on your site.
