I am hoping somebody might know some information because I am stumped and haven’t come across any solutions online.
I am selling workshop reservations with your plugin. To complete the checkout and reserve the spot, the customer must pay with PayPal. For the most part there have been no issues. However, there have been a couple of people who cannot checkout. They get the following PayPal message “to comply with government regulations this transaction has been declined.” Any ideas? When this happens, it also ends up locking an incomplete transaction and I haven’t figure out how clear that out since locked transactions cannot be deleted.
That error is direct from PayPal themselves, not Event Espresso.
We can’t provide any further details on what that is happening as its something on PayPal’s side, I recommend opening a ticket with PayPal to have them confirm what the issue is with that payment.
If they’re paying by credit card, they should call their bank and check if they’re declining it. Generally thats what we see – it’ll be their bank declining. There is little the merchant can do other than suggest using another card.
In case anybody else comes up with this issue, please be advised that PayPal is absolutely useless! The tech guy I spoke with at PayPal said he’s been in support for years, never heard of such an issue, that it couldn’t possibly be PayPal, and it had to be a 3rd party problem. What a bunch of bologna! If you google this error there are MANY people who experienced this issue with no reasonable answer as to why and with no support from PayPal.
