September 12, 2017 at 11:32 am Our payments aren’t connecting to paypal. I noticed this error started happening today. Once people register, it’s supposed to redirect to paypal for payment but this error appears (it’s already redirected to the Paypal site) Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later. Can you please look into this? |
September 12, 2017 at 11:48 am Hi Samatha, One way to fix this is you can update your site to Event Espresso 4 and use the PayPal Express integration. The PayPal Standard gateway has some issues that can be avoided by using the PayPal Express API instead. |

September 12, 2017 at 11:51 am Hi Josh, we actually need EE3 because we have a groupon plug in. I called paypal and they said I can’t change to the paypal express API easily. Does the Paypal express API work with EE3? |
Hi Samantha, Within Event Espresso -> Payment Settings -> PayPal Standard Settings you’ll find the ‘Image URL (logo for payment page)’ It looks like PayPal now requires the image to be loaded over HTTPS, your site is using HTTP. Try removing the value from that field and saving the options, does it work then? |

Thank you! that worked! |
Great. If you want to add an image back into that field you can use a secure image URL (one that starts with https) and PayPal shouldn’t have any issues with that. |

Hi, I’ve been on to PayPal and they suggest there’s something amiss with the EE plugin. Open to ideas 🙂 M |

Hi again, |
Hi there, Can you provide any details on what the error was? A note for future readers, the above mentions the PayPal Button URL but that isn’t what is causing the problem, it’s the ‘Image URL’ field which is used for your logo on PayPals checkout, that must now be HTTPS. Something to note is PayPal are well known for making changes server side without notice/documentation, then either denying they have made changes or things just magically fix themselves without you or (apparently) PayPal changing anything. So if nothing changed your end but PayPal randomly stopped working, it’s usually because they changed something. |
