I’ve set up EE3 Free on a client’s site and had successfully tested PayPal payment with my email address and sandbox mode turned on. However, when I attempt to return to the Payment Settings area, I receive either a 504 or 520. The plugin appears to be attempting to access the following file: /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-free/includes/admin-files/gateway_developer.php but it doesn’t exist.

I ended up manually updating the email address and sandbox mode in the database, but I certainly shouldn’t have to do that.

I’ve deactivated/uninstalled/reinstalled the plugin. I don’t have any other plugins that are on the conflict list.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Bekee,

EE3 sends out a https-check and waits for a response. It sounds like its going out but its not hearing anything back so it continues to wait (it does actually time out after a while).

Could you try temporarily deactivating your firewall plugin?

Lorenzo,

Thanks for your prompt reply! I deactivated WordPress Simple Firewall and it still times out after exactly 60 seconds.

I deactivated a couple more that are not really in use right now, and it results in the same issue.

Let me know if you can think of anything else!

Something else is blocking the request. Does your host have any firewall settings through cpanel?

I’ll check with my host. I don’t see anything in cPanel for firewall settings.

Lorenzo,

My host and I have determined that the cause of the issue is CloudFlare. I’ve temporarily disabled CloudFlare and am taken to the Payment Settings page with a quickness.

Thanks for your help today!

Thanks for sharing the solution!

Cloudflare has a development mode that should reactivate automatically after a period of time:
