I recently upgraded to 3.1.36.1, and am running a newly updated WordPress 3.8. Since one of these updates (not sure which caused it), the payment overview page is showing incomplete when a user returns to the page. I would have thought this might be a PayPal IPN problem, but the system actually does register the payment on the back-end and sends the registration confirmation. Additionally if a user were to go to the payment overview url after paying, and refresh the page, it then shows the complete payment.
This issue was first brought to my attention when a user e-mailed me about it, and I tested it by using coupon codes to make the payment $1.00 on PayPal to test a transaction with the live code. I have had a custom payment_overview page, but I removed it from uploads, and verified the changes were not on the page, and still had the same ‘Incomplete’ error message being displayed.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
Also I think this might have also broken my Androiad Scanning App connectivity to the website, the app just remains on “Fetching” after logging in.
It turns out that when the PayPal IPN is delayed (likely network traffic) and hitting the site/updating the payment status *after* the Thank You page loads up. This is why you’re seeing the payment status get updated in the admin or after a refresh of the Payment page, and the same thing would have happened before updating.
If you have the email option set to email the registration confirmation email *after* payment, then one thing you can do is add a message to the Thank You page that instructs the customer to check their email for the payment confirmation.
With the android app, it may help to try temporarily deactivating any new plugins that may have been recently installed or updated.
