Hello!
I need some help. My university is organizing a scientific conference. I created the website to disseminate the conference and communicate with participants. Now, participants have to register to the conference and pay the fees. The problem is: all the payments must be made through the website of my university, but, in order to have more control on the registration process, I would like that:
– 1st, participants could register on my website (using Event Espresso)
– 2nd, participants could be redirected to the website of my university when they have to finalize their payment.
There is some possibility to configure this option? How can I do this?

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

So will you be manually applying the payment made through the university site within the admin?

If so you could use one of the offline payment method available within EE and include a link on the thank you page to direct the user to the university payment site. However EE would not communicate with that site so you would need to manually apply the payment and approve the registration so the user receives registration emails.

Thanks Tony. So, there is a possibility to communicate to the other site, for example, the following: in my website one participant choose the ‘XYZ’ option and for that he must pay 30€; there is a possibility to tell to the other site the amount (as well other kind of information, such us VAT number, address) which should be paid by the participant?
Again, thanks a lot for the quick reply.

Hi there,

It depends, does the other website have the ability to receive the billing information?

Hi Josh!
Yes. The other website can receive information. I have already spoke with a guy from my institution and he told me the following: “(1) you can redirect all the people to our website and there people complete a form and pay; (2) or alternatively it can be used a direct link (https://www.letras.up.pt/gi/eventos/exregister.asp?StrLogin= xxxxx) which can be pre-filled by assigning values to the variables available”.

But I don’t know how to do that.

So, to register on Event Espresso and then send your users to another site for payment you will need to create a custom payment method (for that you will need the help of a developer), we have some documentation on this here:

https://eventespresso.com/2015/03/developers-guide-to-payment-methods-for-event-espresso-4-6/

It could be similar to how a standard payment method works, however it all depends on how their server is set up. You’ll need discuss with ‘guy from your institution’ how they can integrate together and build a payment method that sends the correct details to their site with the user and then confirm their site sends the correct details back to EE to update the payment.

It is not as simple as simply redirecting the user over to their site as EE will not know a payment has been made, the site needs to send details back to Event Espresso ($_POST) to update the transactions/registration based on payment.

So yes its possible, but we can’t advise how you to do it on the forums. You’ll need custom development and the payment option you are linking to needs the ability to re-direct to another site after payment.
