We have been a customer for a few years first using PayPal as our Gateway and now using USA ePay (have to use a 3rd party plugin to get it to work with EE4). We are now thinking of switching to Square and I see you support this with an add on. We need to be able to pass metadata (and ID) with each TXN for accouting purposes. Can this be done with EE4 and the Square Add On?

Hi there,
My apologies for the delayed reply here, I missed your thread.
I checked into this and currently the Square payment method does not allow you to send metadata with the request, however, I have created a ticket requesting a filter is included which should allow for this.
May I ask, where would the metadata value be coming from?

Hello, I would like to specify the metadata on the description page of the payment methods and have it carry through with the transaction to be seen when it hits our bank. Is this possible for any payment type? Maybe I should be noting this somewhere else?

None of the payment method add-ons we have allow you to set the value shown on the bank transaction via settings, some have the requests filtered so it may be possible to do via code for those.
For example, Stripe has filters within the code to allow you to hook in and their API has a ‘statement_descriptor’ field you can set for this although it needs to be formatted correctly for it to work:
