I have two questions about the PayPal standard payment type.
1. I have noticed that when users are in their browsers, logged in to their browser accounts (for instance, their Google accounts), they don’t see the option to pay with credit card if they decide to complete a transaction with PayPal. This option is stacked below the “Have a PayPal account? Login” option when users are not logged into their accounts. When users are logged in, they are only prompted to pay with PayPal or create a PayPal account. I would like users to see the option to pay with a credit card whether or not they are logged into their account. How can I do this?
2. I want to add the ability to pay with debit or credit card alongside our current Invoice and PayPal Standard Payment Methods. I currently do not see those methods in the list to choose from (on the Event Espresso – Payment Methods page). Do you know how I might go about adding this?
PayPal (the company) actually controls whether or not they show the pay by credit card option when using PayPal Standard. What they do (and you’ve observed) is not show the option to pay by credit card if they detect a browser cookie from paypal.com.
The best way to work around this use the PayPal Express with Smart buttons add-on instead. You can use your same PayPal account, and here’s the guide that shows how to get set up with PayPal Smart buttons:
with regards to item 2, you’d need some to add another type of Payment gateway that accepts credit cards, and an account with that provider. Stripe is an excellent one, and here’s its guide:
