What happened to this topic? Last I heard was something like “we’re working on it” But there was never any feedback after that, and I just got bit by it again. If you want to tell me it’s fixed in EE5, that’s ok, I’d just like to know. Or “too hard, never gonna touch it, no one uses that anyway.” In short, if I open and event’s registration and apply a filter before exporting, columns come out differently. Eg custom questions come out Session 1, Session 2, 3, 4 unfiltered, or Session 4, 3, 2, 1 if I filter for Approved status. Needless to say that messes up the results when I copy new records into my smarty-pants excel file that counts and sorts and all that. And…appears that if I just open registrations and click to export the CSV, I only get the APPROVED ones. That actually works for me, but it seems counter-intuitive since I applied no filter, and if I did have a filter applied for APPROVED for other reasons I get the wrong column order in the downloaded csv. Very confusing… |

Hi Michael, How are you today? Sorry for the slow reply. I’ve been able to confirm what you’re seeing. The custom question fields seem to change order based on filtered/unfiltered. I’ve opened an issue with our dev team for them to take a look. I’ll be in touch when I have more information to share. |

First reported September 13, 2022 at 11:57 am in a similarly named support request. I thought Tony started something then with your developers, but re-reading that thread now I see it doesn’t really say that. Tony was unable to reproduce the error but I sent files to illustrate the problem. I guess I’m happy you can now reproduce the column question. |

We’ll notify you if we have more questions, an update is available for testing or released. |

Can you test something for me on your end? The columns that are output depends on the questions associated with an event. So, if you export all the registrations with NO filters, then you get all the registrations for all events and thus all the custom questions columns are output. If you select a filter such as “Pending Payment”, and the only registrations that are pending payment are associated with events with different questions, then only the necessary question columns are output to the csv. So, by design, the columns will be dynamic depending if the registrations that are applicable to the query include only associated questions. Do you see that? |
Well, Yes, I see that but I’m going to say that’s not what I’ve seen. Here’s my situation… All our events are one-of-a-kind and rarely overlap in time, so extracting from All Registrations would not be very useful. I get what I get by going to All Events and selecting Registrations under that so I only get that one event with only one set of custom questions. Unfiltered I get Approved records and others like Payment declined. If I filter for eg Approved only, So I imagine you guys are all saying “I’m not sure what he means” so I created two exported .csv files for you to see; links are below since I can’t attach here. All the PII has been deleted for the safety of my members. First one I just opened the registrations for an event and clicked the REGISTRATION CSV button, so that was unfiltered. Then I went up to the top, selected APPROVED and then FILTER, and finally REGISTRATION CSV button. Look to the left of column AC & you will see the order of columns is considerably different. FWIW the order of columns in the unfiltered file matches the EE4 setup, the filtered file doesn’t. I’ve seen this in more than one event, and more than one version of EE4 (see last post from some time earlier on the same topic which never got a real response. I think I did the same experiment for Tony Warwick back then). These files are at https://www.ninthdistrictpta.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/UNFILTERED-event-espresso-registrations-2023-04-28-10-55-09.csv and https://www.ninthdistrictpta.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/APPROVED-FILTER-event-espresso-registrations-2023-04-28-10-55-54.csv BTW, having the REGISTRATION CSV button down at the bottom of the registration list away from the filter buttons at the top makes no sense to me. Is there a reason for that which I don’t understand??? |
That’s a good clarification. I will test this myself today. |
I was able to reproduce your issue. Our developers have given me what they think is a fix, which worked for me to make the column output consistent regardless of filter, but it goes with EE5. Would you like to test? |
I’ve got 4 events running right now, all ending on June 3 so I’m sticking with EE4 till that’s over, and I’m not really in a position to experiment with an alpha fix. Good to hear that I’m not crazy and the problem is reproducible. Is there any more you can tell me about what goes wrong, and why I’m apparently the first to notice this? |
Forgot to say… After June 3 I can clone all this over to our staging site and upgrade that to EE5 to test that patch. I’m going to pull those sample files off line in a couple of days, so if you want copies of those grab them now if you haven’t already. |
Okay. Circle back to my June 3 and we’ll see where we are with this. |
