So, obviously, we get a copy of the PHP but I just wanted to make sure that if I purchase a license that I have the rights to alter the source. So, do I have access to all of the source and can I alter it to do all I need it to?

Hello,

Event Espresso is released under the GPL v2. The 1-site/5-site licenses and terms of service are for support — i.e. if you use the plugin outside what is specified in the license/ToS, we cannot provide support. However, as GPL software, you’re free to do whatever you want with it once you have it and we’re always interested in contributions. Also, the Event Espresso name or any of our identity cannot be used without permission. 🙂

Please let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I am confused. Are the Add-Ons included in the Premium version also GPL? If not, how are those licensed?

Yes. All of our software is GPL. What you are paying for, when you purchase a license, is premium support and updates for a year.

First off, it is awesome how responsive you are on this forum. Second, I think it is awesome that you guys are offering all of this as GPL. Third, is there somewhere I can find the source for all of the premium add-ons? I would love to test it before paying for support.

If you would like to test drive Event Espresso with the add-ons installed, please complete the application form on this page.
https://eventespresso.com/download/test-drive-event-espresso/

We do not issue copies of the files until the purchase of one of our licenses has been made.

For pricing information, see this page.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I think I finally understand the business model. You guys assume that I do not have a friend that has purchased your product who wants to share it with me. That is a good assumption as I honestly do not :). I will fill out the test drive info.

We understand that there are people who may share our product, but without a license, they will not have access to the great support and updates that we provide. 🙂
