Hi there, on our registration checkout page, only the shortcode is displaying [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] when going through the registration process. It was recently working however I just did an update to most recent EE4 version. I tried making the checkout page another page, saving, then changing it back… but that did not work. There is no cache-ing active on the site (it is a dev site) Site is: Event page is at: any thoughts? thanks |
Hi there,
When you did this, did you create a new page, add [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] to that page and then select that page in: Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Critical pages -> Then run a test registration to confirm if that worked? If no can you test that on your site, please? |
Thanks Tony… yep I tried with a new page and put that shortcode on it, and then updated in the Critical Pages list |
sorry, forgot to include that I tried it and it did not work |
Are you using a page builder or adding the shortcode directly within the WP editor? Can you link me to an event I can run a test registration on, please?

Shortcode is added directly in the WP Editor, and here is an event: |
Sorry, completely forgot about the link in the opening post. Can you send me a copy of X theme pro so I can test this locally? You’ll need to host the file somewhere and post a link we can use to download it. The transactions page is working as expected, but it appears the registration-checkout and thank-you pages are not, I suspect its something pro is doing that is unexpected. |

sure… can I send through a link rather than post publicly? Twitter (have followed you)? Email? some other way? I did see that X theme pro is wrapping the shortcode in a <div>… don’t know if that is it? |
I just tried putting the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on two test pages and use the WP editor vs X theme pro editor… and they both render the shortcode properly |
You can email the link to support[at]eventespresso.com and I’ll take a look. ESPRESSO_EVENTS is tracked a little differently as it can be used on any page/post and is not a ‘critical page’. |

Hi Tony…. just checking in on this one as I sent a link to the support@ email address on 11 Nov (Sydney, Australia time zone) Thanks |
Apologies for the delay, so it doesn’t look like its an issue with X Pro. Can I take a quick look at the site? If so you can send temporary login details using this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Note I’ll likely need to install a plugin to look at the database, so FTP is required (we don’t install plugins without them). |

Thanks, have done so (submitted twice, second time with FTP) |
Hi Tim, The shortcode is parsing correctly now. Apparently there was at least one corrupted file in the Event Espresso plugin, because installing a fresh copy resolved the issue. |
That’s great… thanks so much Josh (and Tony)… apologies that it was a relatively simple fix like this |
It’s only a simple fix when its found 🙂 I’m glad your back up and running anyway, please do let us know if you have any further problems. |
