I am developing an event which will require primary registration (i.e. I am coming) and then secondary registration to sub events.

Is there a way to make this a single booking process i.e. all on one page, or, using MER, will it have to be several different events?

I really want the registration process to be simple and on one page – is this possible?

Can you make the sub-events just questions in the registration form? So people fill out the contact details that they are attending, then you ask them what event they want to attend for Session 1, session 2, etc? The session names would be the answers to the questions. I’d suggest using the drop-down question style.

Garth,

I had thought of that, however, I want some of the sessions to be timed i.e. they make an appointment and that time is then not available to others. The only way I can see to do this is using ‘registration limits on timeslots’.

Hi Paul,

What you can do then is use the registration limits on time slot features for the “sub-events” Note: The sub events are just regular events with time slot options with set quantities.

Then you can turn off the standard registration forms (under event options in the event editor). Then use a shortcode on a page like this one to add the main event and sub events to the cart with one click:

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”1-2-3″ anchor=”Start your registration” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Starting your registration…”]

You’ll need to swap in the corresponding event_ids for the events you’re grouping together.

Josh,

apologies for the delay in replying – a mixture of new baby and a lot of work!!!

I seem to have forgotten how to set up the time slots!

I will work on this tonight.

I do see one issue – as attendees will essentially be registering to several events, they will need to get several confirmation emails to confirm appointments – not sure if this is good or bad – one email would be best!

We’re working on it, but it’s not likely to happen until after 3.2.
