I just spent the last several hours paying for a new yearly subscription and then adding 8 events. When I test the events, they all throw the error “Nothing in your Event Queue” I AM NOT A PROGAMMER – I know WordPress and setting up Plugins. Please help! My customer is marketing her workshops.

Hi Maria,

I followed up via email, but in case you didn’t get the email I’ll follow up here too.

Can you contact Godaddy’s tech support and ask them to verify that the server that your site is hosted on can save PHP session data? They will need to configure the session.save_path and then verify that the server allows for PHP sessions to be written to the server.

Thanks.

HELP!
I talked with the support at Godaddy- they need to know what value you want in the session.save_path

Any value will due so long as it’s a folder that exists and it’s path that PHP can write to.

This means they’ll need to create a folder on your server for saving sessions if they haven’t already done so. This is important because it will help avoid another issue like this one:

According to Godaddy, the session data is being saved to upload_tmp_dir and the plugin developer (you) should be sure the plugin works with that. The server is set to save PHP session data.

I am paying for this plugin AND $70 for this conversation!! Please help me get this working

Hi Maria,

We’ll need file access to the server in order to troubleshoot any further. Can you send either FTP credentials or c-panel access to files? You can send them via the secure form on this page:

Hi Maria,

Please do not post login details within the forums as they are publicly accessible. I have removed the details from public view but would recommend altering the FTP password.

Your events should now be accessible, it turns out WordPress was in maintenance mode from a previously failed WordPress core update. For some reason it had not taken the site out of maintenance mode so when EE updated, it could not update the database to the lastest schema.

I’ve removed your site from maintenance mode and EE has updated the database to the latest version, your events now work as expected.

You session.save_path is still not set, GoDaddy are incorrect in stating it is set as shown within Event Espresso system information and also PHP Info:

Event Espresso system info – http://take.ms/H3dGC
PHP Info – http://take.ms/pWcM2

Those screen shots should show something like “/tmp” or similar to tell PHP itself (not Event Espresso) where to store the sessions.

I have added a line of code to the PHP.ini file within your site (which would be were this should be set) that should set the session.save_path to /tmp although you may need to restart Apache on your server for this to take effect (GoDaddy should be able to provide further details on this)

According to Godaddy, the session data is being saved to upload_tmp_dir and the plugin developer (you) should be sure the plugin works with that. The server is set to save PHP session data.

This leads me to believe the support technician you spoke with set the upload_tmp_dir to /tmp (as that was set within the PHP.ini file above), but this has nothing to do with with sessions so I’m not sure why they would believe this would solve the problem.

So I would recommend contacting GoDaddy once again to have them check over the PHP.ini file, restart Apache and ensure that the session.save_path value is correctly assigned but right now your events should be working as expected, can you confirm this please?
