First, I know that there are lots of forum topics on this issue. I’ve read them, and nothing has solved our problem.

Event Espresso Version 4.9.45.p
All EE plugins are the latest version.

We have a dozen or more users reporting that they receive the “Nothing In Your Event Queue” error when trying to register for an event on our site. Most of our users receive no errors, and none of our development team has been able to duplicate this error on our devices.

We have one user who has tried to register on 3 different devices, using different web browsers, and receives this error on all of them. But he gave us his login, and when we login to his account on our computer, we receive no errors.
It is not limited to his location or ISP, however. In the last couple weeks, and especially the last several days, we now have users from all over the US reporting this error.
One user has helped us a lot, sending screenshots, and following our instructions. He has cleared his cache, deleted his cookies, used different browsers and different computers, etc. I confirmed via screenshots that he has cookies enabled. And he still gets this error.

Our site is running on WP Engine, but object caching is turned off, I have contacted their support, and had the EE Crital Pages added to their caching exclusion list. We have no caching plugins.

I see that registrations are not bound to user accounts. That user is already registered for one of our events, but when I logged into his account and registered on my computer, I got no duplication errors, and his account is now registered for the event twice.

We have only received complaints from registered users who are logged in when they attempt to register. So far, we have not heard of any problems when a user is not signed in when he registers (we allow event registrations from non-logged-in users).

The only way I can see this error is by loading a uts number that doesn’t belong to me. Ie, if I manually enter a previous uts checkout number while logged out of the site, I see this error.

Note the comments on these two events in particular:

Please help us get this resolved.

Hi Adam,

I can consistently see the error when I try to start a registration using the Firefox browser. Since this site is hosted on WPEngine, do you have the staging site activated where you can troubleshoot there?

The problem is that we cannot reproduce the error, staging or production. For us, the registration always works fine, even on firefox. It’s made it very difficult to test.

I just made a fresh copy of the site to staging. Here is the staging site:
http://ucusergroup.staging.wpengine.com/

Let us know what you’d like us to do. Do you mind testing, since you’ve been able to reproduce the error?

Yes I can test. I get the Nothing in your Event Queue error on the staging site too: While logged out of the site, and using the Firefox browser. Can you temporarily deactivate all of the plugins on the staging site?

Thanks Josh, I’m glad you’re able to experience the error.

I have deactivated all plugins on the staging site, except the following list. The site apparently depends on Advanced Custom Fields, b/c there is nothing but the header if I deactivate it. 🙂

Advanced Custom Fields
Event Espresso
Event Espresso – Calendar (EE 4.3+)
Event Espresso – MailChimp (EE4.4.5+)
Event Espresso – Social Sharing (EE4.4.4+)
Event Espresso – WP Users (EE4.6+)

OK I’m not getting the error anymore so I suspect there’s a plugin in the mix that’s affecting the session state. Can you complete the secure form on this page and include some temporary access credentials for the staging site? If I can log in to that site I can re-activate the other plugins one-by-one then test the form after each activation, which will help narrow down the cause of the error.

Just completed the form. Thanks!

I’m finding that the error only occurs when the Memphis Documents Library plugin is activated. When that plugin is deactivated, no errors. I’ll go and download the plugin and see if I can find where it’s resetting the session or whatever it’s doing.

Weird – never would have guessed that one. Thanks for isolating it!

You can still use the Memphis Documents Library plugin if you set its “Disable Sessions” option. I’ve added some documentation here:
