Hi, I have suddenly got the dreaded nothing in your event queue message this afternoon. Noth changed on the site to cause this.

First thing I did was update the EE4 plugin to the latest version, no change
Then disabled every plugin except the EE4, no change

There is no cache software running

Hi Andrew,

You may need to contact your host and ask them to restore your site before we can help. Right now your site says “Error establishing a database connection”.

I did a reboot of the server, it is a VPS. Following the reboot the site came up OK but when I tried to login to the WP dashboard it reported it could not connect to the database and asked to put a line in the wp-config.php file forcing a database rebuild.

I did that and got the following errors:

wp_users: 12 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_usermeta: 15 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_posts: 14 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_comments: 11 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_options: Table is marked as crashed
wp_postmeta: 15 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_terms: 1 client is using or hasn’t closed the table properly
wp_term_taxonomy: 9 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_term_relationships: 7 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_commentmeta: 4 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly

Looks like the database is corrupt, I have a full backup from 3 days ago so can try a restore unless I can repair the database problems.

Any ideas?

Hi Andrew,

Could you try using a tool like PHPmyadmin to repair the database?

https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin_optimize_database.htm

That may be available through a cpanel / hosting panel login area or through a direct login page.
