Hi,
We launched on a big event for ticket sales today, and although there’s been an online booking, I’m not received any email notifications that they’ve booked.

The event author is my username on the WP site and it’s my email address but I’ve still not received any notifications to the email address.

Can someone please advise what I can do to check as I need to have these coming in as and when they book.

Many thanks

Tony

Hi there,

If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity

Do you see the messages there? If so what colour ‘status bar’ do they have on the left?

Hi Tony, They don’t have any colour status bar.

They are also showing as “recipient” none, but they are showing as queued for generating and then it says generate now. Is it because there is no recipient? Even tho our settings should send it through to me?

I’ve just logged out and back in, and gone to the messages and there are some showing as

No Receipient, then it details that they are the registration approved emails (are these not sent automatically)? and a payment received mailing and then the event registration mailing.

Are these not generated and then sent automatically?

Those are normally generated and sent automatically, but if the message settings are set to send on a separate request, the message system requires a task scheduler. It sounds like the task scheduler (aka wp_cron) might be deactivated on your site.

You can try switching the settings to send the messages on the same request, which will bypass the task scheduling and just send on the same request when the registration is processed. You go to Event Espresso > Messages > Settings and change the setting there to send messages on the same request.

Thank you Josh, I’ve changed the settings as you’ve detailed in the 2nd paragraph and will see what happens.

It sounds like the task scheduler (aka wp_cron) might be deactivated on your site.

Should it be activated and if so, how do I go about this?

You can check to see if it is indeed deactivated by installing this plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/

Then you go to the Tools > Crontrol page and if wp_cron is deactivated it will display a notification that tells you so. Then you can reach out to your host or possibly even the developer of the website and check to see if they had deactivated wp_cron and if they’re willing to reactivate it.
