WP 3.8
EE 3.1.36.3.P (installed update yesterday)
Addons: Calendar, Recurring Events
Registration page: http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/book-coasteering-online/?ee=33

I’m no longer receiving admin notification emails when someone registers for an event.
I had thought i’d super tested the system before going live, however my first booking came through this morning and I only found out about it due to the paypal payment notification email.

All was working as expected during testing. I have the WP Mail SMTP plugin installed and test emails get through ok. I’ve also searched my junk/spam and still nothing.

Have I broke it somehow? πŸ™
Any top tips would be most appreciated

Hi Cleopatra,

Is the SMTP plugin set up to send emails through a gmail account, or an SMTP server? If it’s a gmail account, can you check the Sent Messages in the account to see if the email was sent?

Hi Josh
Thanks for looking in.
SMTP plugin is sending emails through SMTP server

Hi again,

It will help to know whether it is sending emails at all. Can you try sending a test email through the WP SMTP plugin options page?

Then you can also try logging the sent emails with this plugin:

WP SMTP plugin test email gets through fine.
email log plugin is logging the send.
Can’t see where i’ve broken espresso for admin notifications.
Client that booked the event received her confirmation so it’s just me that’s blind to them πŸ™

You might not have broken anything here. Can you try sending the admin email to an alternate email address that uses a different ISP? The ISP might be blocking this email which would prevent it from even ending up in the spam folder.

Hah, don’t speak too soon!

I changed the General settings => contact information => Primary contact email: to a gmail account

Went through the registration, even completed registration by paying with paypal.

All i get through is the booking confirmation (as a customer) and a paypal payment notification, no admin notification of the booking itself.

Is the admin notification email in the sent folder of the account you are using with your smtp plugin?

Hey Sidney
No there’s no sign of it. Which is why i think it isn’t being sent πŸ™

Can you check the PHP error log for errors?

Another thing you could try is to plug in the gmail account’s credentials into the SMTP plugin’s settings. This would route the email through the account instead of using the SMTP server. More info here:

Hi Josh

PHP error log…I wouldn’t know where to start.

I deleted all login info etc on SMTP plugin and entered it afresh.
The SMTP plugin sends out the test email fine to @celticquestcoasteering.com and is received as expected.

Email Log plugin is showing that the admin notification email was sent to the correct address, but not showing in inbox/spam etc.

I’m also running Easy Contact Forms plugin, which sends notifications to the same email addy without a hitch. Could there be a clash here?

There is one way to find out: You try a registration with the contact form plugin deactivated.

Josh you hero…..Thankyou!
I feel like such a muppet when the answer’s staring me right in the face but I just can’t see it!

I killed the Easy Contact Forms Plugin and hey-presto… event espresso is back in the game!
Instantly pumped out the client side confirmation and admin notification.

Re-activated the Easy Contact Forms plugin, with ee active too, double checked that wp smtp plugin was active on relevant pages and it’s all working as is should again.

I use plugin organizr due to some pages bloating when loading. I have sneaky feeling wp smtp plugin wasn’t active on all relevant pages….but that’s just a guess.

Thanks again folks, super support & top tips as always πŸ™‚
