Hi
We have event espresso installed on http://www.dyouville.org.
We are trying to understand an apparently failure.
A client signed up for the event at http://www.dyouville.org/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=140 TWICE
Both attempts are shown in the system as incomplete – ie no payment received, however we received notification from PAYPAL that payment WAS received on one occasion.
No confirmation email was received in either case.
So we have 2 question s at this point.
1. Should we get emails in the case where the purchase is not completed, or only if the payment is made?
2. Is it possible that the fact that the person tried to sign up twice with the same email address could have messed up the system?
The System was implemented Jan 1st of this year and seems to have working fine until now
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Colin
Well you should receive an email when someone registers regardless of their payment status.
However this is not always the case for the customer, depending on the settings. For example in the general settings there are “Send payment confirmation emails?”
and “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” which affect when emails go out.
Also in the events themselves you can affect this by changing the option “Default Payment Status for Event:” to anything other than No Change.
Therefore I would check your settings first.
If not then it could be something to do with the server. SMTP plugins or services such as Mandrill or PostMark can assist with email deliverability.
Using the same email twice should have no bearing on registration or emails. Also regarding the PayPal issue, is this an isolated case or are other customers having the same problem?
