We just launched a new website and I updated our licence key, but none of the data has transferred.

Hi John,
The license key has no relationship to your data. If you want to transfer data from website to another, we recommend using the WP Migrate DB plugin. They have a free version that can be downloaded from wordpress.org, and a pro version available from here.

We already published the new website. Does that mean that all the event espresso data is lost? Attendees from previous events, etc. I assumed that the data would be backed up by event espresso.

Hi John,
Did you delete the old website? If not, you should be able to get that data.
Event Espresso does not have access to your website’s data, so making backups of your website is actually your responsibility.
