I am so confused. I have updated to the new version, 5.0.3 of EE4. When I go to the about tab it says that it enables “the Recurring Events Manager add-on for Event Espresso 4.” However, I can’t find that add on anywhere in my dashboard, and when I click the link for it below that message on my site, I get a broken link.

This plugin really works for my client’s business, but I’m extremely disappointed at how much time I’ve spent trying to figure out what’s going on with this update when it doesn’t appear that any of your documentation is up-to-date. Where are the instructions for using the “Advanced Editor”? What is the deal with the Recurring Events add-on? Why don’t you just call it EE5, instead of EE4, since the changes are so big?

Thanks for any explanation or links you can provide.

Hi there,

Sorry for the confusion. The About Page maybe a little confusing: “to enable the Recurring Events Manager add-on for Event Espresso 4.”

The Recurring Events Manager add-on for EE4/EE5 will actually only work with EE5 because of the dependent code necessary in the core plugin to support the Recurring Events Manager add-on.

So, the Recurring Events Manager add-on for Event Espresso 5 is not yet released. We may start releasing it to a limited number of users. We have just been waiting to let people use Event Espresso 5 for a time before compounding any problems or frustrating experiences with EE5 before allowing people to create nearly 100 dates and times per event.

If you’d like to give the EE5 Recurring events add-on a try, we could send it to you directly.

Let us know.

Yes, that would be great, as long as it supports recurring events that are not a specific interval. Like I might have an event on a Tuesday July 11, that doesn’t repeat again until Friday August 25.

I just tried out the new Advanced Editor and found it quite difficult. I copied a datetime, but it wouldn’t let me save it without a ticket, but there didn’t appear to be a way to create a ticket from within that window. So I had to cancel, create a new ticket, by copying a previous ticket, but when I got to the part to assign it to a datetime, it had created a duplicate datetime with the same date as the most recent datetime. So I selected the last one, and then had to go back to the datetime and edit the dates. Just seems very difficult for what should be a simple process of adding a new event date. Is there a better way to do this?

BTW, The About page also has this below the other message about the new version, and the link to the add-on is broken. https://app.screencast.com/hDkJ4hi7NJZbC

I sent you an email with a special link to download the recurring events add-on for EE5.

Thank you Garth. I have downloaded and opened the link to the documentation. I have a couple questions:
1. Does it support recurring events that don’t have a pattern? If not, there’s no point in me installing it, because my events are completely random.
2. If I already have events scheduled, which use multiple datetimes and tickets for the future, but I want to create a recurring event, does it need to be a new, separate event, or is there a way to add recurring details to the existing event?

Thanks,
Fran

1. Does it support recurring events that don’t have a pattern? If not, there’s no point in me installing it, because my events are completely random.

Recurring events is designed to build events that happen in a patter (yearly, monthly, daily, etc.), but you can add exclusion patterns too.

After dates are created using that pattern (or exclusion pattern), then the dates can further be adjusted individually.

If you just want to pick and choose dates that do not have a recurring pattern, I would just use the copy/duplicate datetime feature that is available in the core plugin.

2. If I already have events scheduled, which use multiple datetimes and tickets for the future, but I want to create a recurring event, does it need to be a new, separate event, or is there a way to add recurring details to the existing event?

You can add a recurring series of datetimes/tickets to an existing event. Similar to adding a new datetime or duplicating/copying a datetime for an existing event.
