Hello,

I just purchased a new license, but Event Espresso will not update to the latest version. Currently I have 3.1.36.6.P, but it says “update package not available” when I try to run the update. Please let me know what I should do.

Hi there,

You currently have an EE4 license but your site is running EE3.

EE4 isn’t just an update to EE3, it’s a completely new system and works differently so we don’t update from EE3 to EE4 on the one-click updates. EE3 will update to the latest version of EE3 if you have it available on your license, but to switch from EE3 to EE4 you need to manually install EE4.

We have some documentation on migrating from EE3 to EE4 here:

Ok, I followed the instructions and updated to EE4. I ran the auto maintenance updater and it said it was updating my databases. However, when I went to check on my events after it was complete, nothing transferred over? I’m having to revert back now. Please let me know what I should do.

So nothing at all was available within EE4?

No events/registrations?

When using EE3, did you have any active/upcoming events or are they all previous events?

We had February populated. You can check it out here: https://classwithaglass.com/calendar/

Hi there,

I checked your /calendar/ page and it’s running the EE3 calendar add-on. When your site gets updated to use Event Espresso 4 you will also need to install the EE4 calendar add-on. The EE4 calendar add-on is available to download from your account page.

Ok. But when I went to the events section after installing EE4 there was nothing there, nor any cateogies. Still need to install the calendar addon anyways?

No, if EE4 didn’t list any events after the migration then the EE4 Calendar won’t show anything.

Do you have a development copy of the site? If not I’d recommend creating one on a subdomain so we can troubleshoot this there, we’ll need work through some steps and run the migration again to see if any errors are being thrown but it’s not advisable to do that on the live site.
