2. Trying to set-up a basic registration form that would include classmate name, maiden name, guest name, addresses, email, cell phone and the like.
3. On that same form select all weekend ticket or just Friday night event or just Saturday night and an area for donations.

This my starting point with a request for HELP!
With regards to item #3, where you’ll have the selection of different options like Friday Night, or Saturday Night, or all weekend: That’s best handled with Datetimes and Tickets. You’ll set those up when you create the event. For example, under Datetimes, you’ll input a Friday Night datetime, then add a datetime for Saturday, the so on.
Then when you set up tickets, you’ll make a ticket for Friday Night only, a ticket for Saturday Night only, then a ticket for All Weekend. You’ll click on the Advanced options icon (it looks like a little gear) to connect a ticket to a datetime.
Finally, with regards to donations, if you want to collect that amount on the payment step you’ll need to set up a price modifier. This is not a built-in feature of Event Espresso, but what you can do is add a third-party plugin that allows for setting up donation amount fields on the registration form.
