I deactivated EventExpresso because it was crashing the site. If I turn it back on the site gets error and will not load. I know that you will want the logs to see what is the issue – I have a backup site on godaddy but I can’t turn on EventExpresso because its on my main site. What I need to do is activate EventExpresso on my backup site and see what the issue is then put it back on the prod site. How do I go about doing this? I have a few events in the prod site that I want to make sure stay there so I can use them as a template for the next event. Please help!

Hi there,

How do I go about doing this?

In short, just install Event Espresso on your test site and test it there.

The license is used for support and one-click updates on 1 site, it does not affect EE’s functionality in any other way. This means if you have a live and staging site you can install it on both, but only set the key on the live site (it’s not a “problem” if it’s used on both when setting them up, it may flag your key and require a reset of the key on our end, at which point you’ll see a notice staging an issue, but it wont cause any issue on the site itself).

I have a few events in the prod site that I want to make sure stay there so I can use them as a template for the next event.

Those are stored in your own site’s database so won’t be affected by anything we do on our end, or your license. I’d recommend you backup your database just to be safe as its good practice.

Fatal error: Uncaught EventEspresso\core\exceptions\InvalidAliasException: “EventEspresso\core\services\cache\CacheStorageInterface” can not be used as an alias because the “EventEspresso\core\services\cache\TransientCacheStorage” class does not extend or implement it.

Ok, so you pulled the site, include the database and all files FROM live TO staging, correct?

That error usually means there is a missing file from your install and can be fixed by reinstalling Event Espresso.

Go to your account page.

Download Event Espresso 4 from the download section.

On the staging site, go to Dashboard -> Plugins.

De-activate and Delete Event Espresso 4 core (WordPress may show a notice about deleting EE4 and it’s data, it is up to the plugin itself to remove data on delete and we do not)

Then go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new. Click upload plugin and select the .zip file you just downloaded from your account page.

Upload and active.

Does it still show an error?
