I have a client, who now wants to get their own support from EE. I have installed and given them one of my 5 developer license keys. So if they wish to now move on and not help pay for the developer license key, can I remove the key from my being listed on my account, but still allow their plugin to work (without updates)?
They may consider in the future purchasing their own business license, but that is not for another 3-4 months. As a developer, I ask my clients using this plugin for a small nominal fee to help defray the costs… since I just renewed, I do not want them to have “free updates” if they are unwilling to help me pay for the plugin.
You can (or they can) go to their Event Espresso>General Settings page and remove the support key from the support key field and save. This will make the key field blank. They’ll start getting admin notices when there’s a new update available. The notification will say they’ll need a key to receive the update, but the plugin will continue to function in every other way.
Once that’s done, please go into your account and request a key reset for the domain you wish to detach from your account. In some cases we charge for key resets when there is a domain transfer but we’ll reset this one for free. When it asks you for a reason for the reset you can mention this forum post, then we’ll get a notification to reset the key for the domain you want detached from your account.
After the key is reset you can use it for another project.
Thanks Josh… that’s exactly what I needed. as always, great service!
