Further detail: EE3 user expired/no longer with company and details unknown. EE3 Version is below recommended migration point. Is there a way to migrate from EE3 plugin backup folder on SFTP?

Hi,

We received your priority support information.

What you can do is first update the EE3 plugin to EE3’s current version. It will be a manual update so you’ll follow these steps:

1) Backup the database
2) Download the current version EE3 plugin from https://github.com/eventespresso/event-espresso-legacy/archive/master.zip
3) Deactivate and delete the old version of Event Espresso.
4) Upload the new plugin to your site via Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New.
5) Activate the plugin.

Then after the activation of the current version of EE3, you can proceed with the migration to EE4 by following this guide:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4

The migration steps are initiated from the WordPress dashboard, so there’s no need (or way) to do the migration via SFTP.

Thanks, Josh. However, between steps 3 & 5 above, I lost all past events. I do see that all my Venues, Questions, Question Groups, Categories, Promotional Codes were in tact when moving to ver 3.1.37.15.P

Also, when attempting to migrate from EE3 to EE4, I’ve followed all instructions per guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4

But upon Step 6 (EE4 activation), I do not see a notice to migrate or see any option for migration in the Maintenance section.

Actually the admin User interface changed in the later versions of EE3 where past events were not displayed in the default view. The past events are still there, you just need to change the filter view to include (or show only) past events.

But upon Step 6 (EE4 activation), I do not see a notice to migrate or see any option for migration in the Maintenance section.

What that means is, at one time, EE4 was activated on that site. It may have been awhile ago. What you can do is go to Event Espresso > Maintenance > Reset and click the button to delete all Event Espresso data. What that will do is remove all Event Espresso 4 tables from the database. It will not remove any of the EE3 data. After you’ve deleted the EE4 tables, you can reactivate the Event Espresso 4 plugin again and proceed to migrate EE3 data.
