Every single year I have to pay GoDaddy and extra $125 to fix my website, it always corresponds around my renewal of my expesso account. One issue is Recaptcha gets screwed up and they have to fix other things. My renewal is in Feb 2022, right when my new classes start, so it always effects my students being able to pay for classes. So not only do I pay for your annual fee, every year I have to pay godaddy also. And your company won’t talk to godaddy nor will you go on my site to fix this issue, this will be the 4th year I will have to do this. If this happens this year, I will drop you. In fact, do not renew me until you talk to me. Enough is enough and no one at your company cares to help me. |
Hi there, We designed Event Espresso so that any account issues don’t change how it functions and one of the reasons we did that is to prevent the very issue you mentioned here where an issue with a renewal would prevent users from registering onto your events. Your EE account renewal should have no effect on Event Espresso’s functionality at all. Event Espresso (the plugin) simply pings our servers and asks for any updates to the plugin, if you have a valid license (checked on our servers) then you are able to download the updates from our servers and if not our server refuses the download and provides a reason (no/expired license for example) which the plugin then displays. That check happens either every 12 or every 24 hours and when you renew your account the response wont change, so I can’t see how the renewal is causing the issue here. Are you sure nothing on GoDaddy’s server is renewing every 12 months around the same time as your license (which then makes it appear to be an EE license issue)? I checked your previous post history here at Event Espresso and this stands out to me: https://eventespresso.com/topic/site-is-down-due-to-trying-to-run-updates-concerning-event-espresso/ The part that stands out to me is the fact that is shows:
That leads me to think this is an issue with your SSL certificate expiring rather than an issue with Event Espresso. I can’t say for sure as I haven’t seen the issue itself yet, but you won’t get the above based on your Event Espresso license. I then looked at your other post: https://eventespresso.com/topic/problems-to-my-website-every-year-with-annual-updates/ I can say with 100% certainly that we don’t change any settings on your site based on your license. I understand that these issues seem to correlate with your Event Espresso license renewal but the issues you are reporting in the above 2 threads don’t relate to your license as far as I can tell so I suspect something else is happening here. ReCaptcha uses a totally separate account from EventEspresso, as long as your domain remains valid, your SSL/TLS cert is valid and nothing on your Google ReCaptcha account changes nothing should prevent that from working so the fact that reCaptcha stops working hints that this is an issue elsewhere. —
May I ask when we have refused to investigate this issue? I can only see 2 threads on your account for this, both of which Josh replied with some troubleshooting steps and we never heard anything further. You are correct in that we generally won’t deal directly with GoDaddy on your behalf as that isn’t covered under our support agreement, however, we can (and will) investigate issues that happen with Event Espresso and if its related to the host provide feedback to you which can then be sent to the host.
I can see a member of our sales team has put your renewal on hold. You say no one here at Event Espresso cares to help, however, in your initial thread Josh provide some details on debugging this and we didn’t hear any further and then in your second thread nothing more was added after Josh’s reply. We are more than willing to investigate issues with Event Espresso but we can’t do that when we don’t hear anything more on the issues reported after we’ve replied. Right now I assume everything on the site is working so I can’t check this currently? |
