Multiple categories in shortcode filter

I’ve read through some posts from 2016 & 2017 that indicated using multiple categories in the shortcodes was not supported. Can someone please confirm whether or not this is still case? And if so, are there any workarounds to enable something like this? This is an absolute requirement for my clients needs and I’d like to determine if EE is going to be our solution or if I need to look for something else?

Thanks for any info.

Hi there,

May I ask, which specific shortcode are you referring to?

The ESPRESSO_EVENTS shortcode:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=<some category slug>]

We have many events for different age groups and different physical locations and want to have specific pages setup for these groupings.

No, not currently although you can do it via code.

Or if you create your own shortcode you can pull multiple event categories using our model system:

Thanks for the info Tony.

Maybe I’m missing something, or not asking the right question, but I really cannot believe that I’m ‘inventing the wheel’ here. Do other users of this plugin really have no requirements to display specific events on different pages? Or have a need for filtering events?

I wouldn’t mind looking into the code and model-system if what I was asking for was something very niche to my requirements, but filtering events doesn’t seem like a niche requirement for an events plugin.

No, your not wrong and you can filter a specific category using the above shortcode.

The other options are to use the EE4 calendar:
https://eventespresso.com/product/ee4-events-calendar/

Events table template:
https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-events-table-view-template/

Grid template:
https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-events-grid-view-template/

Or create your own output however you prefer to filter the events.

ETA is now()

I’ve just pushed the update that includes this which is 4.10.8.p

If you don’t see it in your dashboard yet go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Hit save and EE will do an update check.
