I need help tying this in to gether in ee3. Im stuck in the documentation. I don’t know how to create the multi events because it doesn’t tell me here? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/multiple-event-registration-add-on/#setup Calendar, I have installed it but how do I use it? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/events-calendar-add-on/ Recurring events, can I only make one recurring event? How does it work? https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-recurring/ Keep in mind this is what I am trying to achieve below is a registration of my current introductory class |
Hi Owen, You don’t actually “create” multi events. As the documentation explains, the Multi Event Registration add-on adds a “cart” feature to your site so users can register for more than one event in one transaction. The one thing you can set up with the Multi Event Registration add-on is you can place “Add to Cart” shortcodes on pages of your website, which will result in an “Add to cart” button. Then the user can click that button and the event will be added to their cart. wrt the calendar, you create a page on your site and place this shortcode on the page: wrt recurring events, you’ll follow this guide that shows how to make a recurring event: |

Setting up recurring events. Can you help I have the following classes that recur each week and are bookable 3 months in advance;I would like them to all show up on a calendar. How do i set it up? Monday : Ages 5-6 (4:45pm-5:45pm) Tuesday: Ages 5-6 (4:30pm-5:30pm) Wednesday: Ages 6-12 (4:45pm-6:15pm) Thursday : Ages 6-12 (4:30pm-6pm) Friday : Ages 6-12 (4:30pm-6pm) Saturday Ages 6-12 (9am-10:30am) |
Hi Owen, I can advise to start with your first line there: That class is one recurring event series. You go to Event Espresso > Events > Add New and input a name for that series, age information, and event times. You’ll leave the Event Dates fields blank and scroll down to Then you’ll set the Registration Start and end dates, and complete the other fields until you get to Event Repeats where you’ll set Then you’ll set pricing. When all of above is done you’ll click on “Submit New Event”. Then you can repeat the above for the next event series, Monday Ages 6-12 (4:45pm-6pm). |

Hi That seems to be the same way that I would have to do it in Events Manager. Before I continue, I feel I should ask. Is there a way to do something similar to recurring events using EE4. If I have to make a recurrence for every class, how is that different to duplication method in ee4. Could I use the duplication method in ee4 instead of the recurring plugin? I apoligise for all questions. My current plugin does it all in one event. |
That would make sense because EE3’s recurring events plugin and Events Manager were developed by the same person. He left Event Espresso and went on to develop Events Manager later. The big difference you’ll find with EE4 vs. EE3 with recurring events is you lose the option to set up the recurrence with EE4. In other words, every datetime and ticket will need to have their start and end dates manually entered. The reason being is because there are no “repeat” settings to set up a class that repeats weekly, on a day of the week, and so on. |

Ok so it looks like if my understanding is correct ee3 and ee4 are practically 2 different plugins. I need help making a decision please. Choices 2- Switch back to ee4 to get the most updated version of ee4 for my summer camps registration (multi select , calendar ) and use events manager for my recurring events. Im open to any suggestions here.Random questions. In the ee3 set up there were suggestions that godaddy is no good. I use godaddy. Is that an issue with ee3 vs ee4? |
EE4 and EE3 are very different. One difference is the checkout flow where EE4 has the ticket selector which allows for multiple quantities of different tickets. EE3 is simpler where it allows multiple quantities of a single ticket type. Another difference is EE4 has more customization options for registration confirmation emails and more tools. You do have a calendar for EE3 though, so there’s no difference there. It sounds like the main feature you need, that only EE3 has at the moment, is recurring events. One thing to keep in mind: You can switch to EE4 later on, there’s a migration script that can move the event & attendee data from EE3 to EE4. You’ll do well to revisit this after the Recurring events manager is released for EE4. With regards to GoDaddy hosting, it’s just not an ideal host for a dynamic website. If you were doing a brochure style site with no e-commerce, then it’s probably OK. We’ve seen more than a few hosting related issues on sites hosted on GoDaddy, so we’ve made the recommendation to avoid and instead use a recommended host. |

Hi I think I’m going to try ee 4. Can I switch back? |
Yes. Your support license includes access to Event Espresso 4. You can remove the EE3 plugins from your site, and reactivate EE4 (if you deleted the EE4 plugins, you can redownload them from your account page on this website). |
