We’re new to EE4 and trying to figure out how to best use the multi-date/time feature, or figure out if it’s really even designed for what we’re trying to do. We’re a training company, and we often run courses that span multiple dates, with different times on one or more days. Here’s a common example:
– DAY 1 is a Sunday evening, course runs from 4pm to 10pm
– DAY 2 is a Monday day, course runs from 9am to 4pm
Is there a way for us to use this feature in espresso for this use case without confusing users are the start and end times for the course?

Hi Tracy,

It depends on your logging/reporting requirements, but a simple way to set this up would be a single event, with 2 datetimes, 1 for day 1 and another for day 2.

Then a single ticket which applied to both of those datetimes.

So for example here is an event I setup with the above – http://take.ms/shQI3

On the event itself that would look like this – http://take.ms/u3hY5
Opening the ticket details shows the ticket description – http://take.ms/0TrxK

This ticket was free but it can be any price you choose.

Does that help?

Oh, the other thing is, I was confused about setting individual capacities for different days of the same event. For us, when it’s one event, we have the same capacity for all days, and we need that number to inform the limit for online ticket sales, so we can’t have multiple limits…

Thanks. Super helpful. That second question was sent before I’d refreshed the page, and you answered that as well with the single ticket question. I’ve run a test, and here’s what I’ve come up with:

– Event config looks like this: http://screencast.com/t/kiou362nMo8

– But sales on event details page say event is closed? Even though ticket availability range has been set from a time in the past right up until the day before the event: http://screencast.com/t/DAfY4u6V1rkn

Also, we’d like to be able to have the number of spaces available just show up as one number (not separate numbers for day 1 and day 2). Not sure if this has something to do with what our dev team has done? It will definitely confuse participants to see space availability for each day.

– Here’s one way we’re using this data on the site on a page that describes this course: http://screencast.com/t/TDzq8OTLs

The number of spaces available looks like it using the Datetime limits? so multiple datetimes will show multiple amounts although as this is not a part of Event Espresso I can not be sure, I would recommend contacting the developers and ask them how this is setup currently.

Is the Timezone of the website set at the same timezone as your browser?

Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> General. Timezone. What is currently set there?

Got it about Date Time Limits. Thanks.

Timezone was set at UTC+0, now set at UTC-8 for Pacific. I see what it was on the ‘Closed’ issue. Max tickets allowed per order was set to zero.

Question, can I use multiple date times and max tickets per puruchase when I do a .csv import? Is it also possible to spec the ticket and sale times in a .csv? import?

Hi Tracy,

You can use multiple datetimes, tickets and also spec the ticket using the CSV import feature although the import feature is rather complicated currently.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Events, however over the event you have previously setup above and click Export – http://take.ms/mwbne

This will provide you with an CSV export of your current event to use as a guide.
