I am getting an error when an individual clicks on the Register Now button of the event page on a mobile device. I have only been able to replicate this on my android phone but when trying to register I get: ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR. This does not happen anywhere else on my site, just my event. I have turned off Cache on Event Espresso, I have turned off Bot Trap, and have even turned off the reCAPTCHA to see if that helps and no success.

As a follow-up it happens in my Chrome browser on my phone but not the mobile version of Firefox. I have read that this may be due to Chrome not supporting SPDY any more, but is there a way to turn this off for event espresso? My other pages do not have this issue.

Hi Mitchell,

I get the same error when viewing the site using the latest version of Chrome on desktop.

You will need to disable SPDY on the server in order for Chrome to continue to work, EE doesn’t set any protocol to use when submitting the form so its down to the server config.

You may need to contact your host and have them disable it for you depending on how much access you have to the server/litespeed config.

The host said the site is enabled for both SPDY and HTTP/2 so it should be working fine. They are pushing it back on WordPress or the Plugin and saying it is an issue with that, not their server.

Hi Mitchell,

I could see the issue in Chrome and in Safari. The issue in Safari has a different name so I ran some searches on it and found this post:

https://www.litespeedtech.com/support/forum/threads/solved-ls-5-0-stable-protocol-error-with-ssl-sites.11459/

Could you follow up with your web host again?

If they are not able to resolve, then please ask them to relocate you to an nginx or apache server.

Thanks for the follow-up Lorenzo. Is this a non-issue on Apache or NGINX? I will follow up with them on the other things.

Hi Mitchell,

I’m not a server admin but from what I found in the post on the litepseed forums via a Google search, it may be a configuration issue.

I also searched for that error on the Event Espresso support forums and did not find any other reports.
