Good morning, I recently converted my website to a different domain name and now I can’t login with the mobile app. I get this message: Ever seen this? Thanks, Laran |
Hi Laran, So you changed domain, can you let me know how you did this? Using a plugin or manually for example? When you say you changed domain, did you also change host at the same time? |

Thanks Tony, My Hosting company made the switch on their end. I used the Go Live Update URLS Pro version to convert all the databases. Before I did that, my current URL https://valortg.com was forwarded to https://trainingwithvalor.com. This might explain part of the problem? Do I need to clear out phone cache or something like that? Thanks for your help. |
You’ll need to make sure you input the new site url into the Website URL field, which is https://valortg.com I checked and I can see that the REST API is up and running on the new site URL, so no errors there. |
I’ve double checked the URL on both my Ipad and Iphone, same result. |
May I ask can you open this URL in mobile Safari on either of those devices? https://valortg.com/wp-json/ee/v4.8.36/events?include=EVT_name Does it return an error or a list of events? |
List of events. |
If you take a look in the servers error logs, do you see any errors from Event Espresso there? |
I didn’t have my logs turned on but have completed that. I have tried a few times to use the app since I turned the logs on but I have no results showing. |
You could try installing the REST API Log plugin and check for errors when you try to log in with the app. |
Installed… I have received zero errors. It’s like the attempt is not reaching the server at all. |
Sounds like something on the server is blocking the request. With the above log plugin active, if you go to: https://valortg.com/wp-json/ee/v4.8.36/events?include=EVT_name You can see that request logged yes? |
Yes, I’m working with my hosting company to check it out. |
My hosting company says there a zero errors generated and they don’t see anything in my settings for configuration that would cause this error… now what? |
I’m curious about how they came to the conclusion that the configuration was causing the error. The app worked before the switch. Can you get a list of what was changed? For example was the site’s .htaccess file edited? |
Josh, the .htaccess file had not been edited, it was still the previous domain name. I went and fixed that but the app still isn’t working. Are you suggesting that I request, from my provider, all the steps they took to change my domain name? |
It’d be useful to know what was changed because before the change the app was working, correct? |
Further digging revealed that there were two defining statements missing from the wp-config file. I fixed those as well. Still no resolution. |
Actually, now that I think about it. Just before the change I did receive an error where it would log in but wouldn’t pull the classes in. I forget the exact error. Because I knew I was going to change it, I didn’t give it much thought. I’m sure that isn’t particularly helpful. |
The mobile apps do not require any special constants set in wp-config.php. May I ask was there a forum post you saw somewhere that indicated otherwise? If you’re now unsure that the change in domains has something to do with this, it may help to run through this troubleshooting guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/ Along with the above, if there are any custom rules in the .htaccess file those can be temporarily removed to rule out any issues with those. This would leave only the standard WordPress permalink rewrite code while troubleshooting. |
