Having migrated to a new website, it seems any custom message templates I had created in the old site are no longer available. Fortunately I still have access to my old site files via cPanel. Is it possible to copy these templates from old to new site and where are they located? Thanks.
It sounds like you haven’t migrated all of the database tables over to the new site. The message templates are stored in the database, the template files are only used to generate the message templates and save them to the database.
Actually I built a new website on a subdomain while the old site was still in use. I did encounter some problems with the database and had to use a db rewind function via my hosting platform but its possible some parts did not get copied. Where would the custom messages be located in the database as I still have the old database? Would they be under wp_esp_message, wp_esp_message_template, or wp_esp_message_template_group?
Ok I found them. However, just copying the table to the new database didn’t do it. I copied all three tables and seems to be working fine. Presuming that the default tables haven’t been changed in any updates? To be safe I have retained the original tables (after renaming) and just copied the old tables to the new database.
It depends on how far back your previous site was although we haven’t updated the templates in a long time.
Even if the default tables had been changed, it wouldn’t update the templates in use on your site unless you clicked to reset the default templates (theres a reset templates button on each message type).
