One of the staff members at our venue has reported an issue occurring where events transfer to sold out status prematurely if we have a ticket with a minimum quantity larger than the available number of tickets (eg there are 5 spots left, and we have a ticket with a 6 quantity minimum), but another ticket with a lower minimum quantity should still be on sale (eg minimum 1).
Apparently instead of just the minimum-6 option being marked as sold out, the entire event moves to sold out, and staff have to go in and manually change the status to ‘published’ again.
I don’t think it’s the minimum 6 count ticket causing the premature sell out, but rather the ticket reservation system kicked in. You can try getting up to 6 tickets here to see what will happen.
If you update the site to Event Espresso 4.9.38.p among other things it will add a field to the ticket editor where you’ll see a count of registration in progress. When a registration is in progress it’s counted as a reserved ticket but if it’s not paid or completed within an hour, the reservation goes back into the inventory. The later version also does a better job at making sure those reservations don’t get “stuck”, which may be what’s happening on your site.
