Hi, I am creating a second event, and the messages are showing the first event info. How do I change that? |
Hi Vauna, what version of Event Espresso are you using and how was the second event created? Thanks — |

EE 4.6.28 I clicked the add new event button. |
Alright, so which message is showing the old event information? Is it the registration approved message type? That message type sends out registration details after a successful registration. Also, do you have any custom message templates in use? These are messages that are customized and assigned to specific events. — |

All of them show the old event info. I have one custom message for exhibitor booth payments. |
I tried to make a custom message for this new event, but it still had links to the old event. For example, the link Event: [EVENT_LINK] directs to the old event and Venue: [VENUE_TITLE] ([VENUE_CITY], [VENUE_STATE]) directs to the old venue. I don’t see how to make it show the new event or new venue. |
Hi Vauna, venues are linked on a per-event basis via the event editor. The message template then looks for the venue that is linked and shows the venue information in the email. Could you go to your new event and double-check that the new venue is enabled for it? — |
Yes it is enabled – when I bring up the event page, that is the venue that is displayed in venue details. |
Hi Vauna, Could you update to the current software? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/ Next, the new event is linked to the new venue — however, it is showing information from the old venue on the original event. Does that sound accurate? What happens if you create another venue called test with a short description and assign it to the new event and save changes? Does it still show information from the other venue? — |
Ok I updated to the latest software. I created a test venue and enabled it for the new event. It is still showing the old venue and old event in the message. I am not a developer so my questions is when the shortcode says: [EVENT_LINK] [VENUE_TITLE] ([VENUE_CITY], [VENUE_STATE]) and there is more than one event how does the shortcode know what event you want to show? |
Hi Vauna, it should be using the venue that is assigned to the event via the event editor. Could you share a link to the event that has this issue? Thanks! — |

The venue isn’t the only problem. It is showing an old event not the new one in the messages. redacted – Event Espresso support team – LOC |
Alright, it sounds like multiple things are not working as expected. Could you provide a temporary login via this link? https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Also, please let us know who your web host is in the comments area of the form above. Thanks! — |

Hi Vauna, I see that Tony was able to help you with this issue. I’d like to also share information here for other members that may experience something like this. A venue is created via the venues editor in WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> Venues –> Add New. It is then assigned to an event through the event editor (Event Espresso –> Events). The venues shortcodes that are used in the registration approved message type (registration details) will retrieve information from that specific venue. If you are testing the messages system through the send test email option or preview option in the messages editor, then it will use a combination of existing information from the site along with placeholder text (sample information). The most accurate test will be to complete an actual registration via the WP dashboard (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/manually-add-registrant-wordpress-dashboard/) or through a single event page on the front-end of your site. Thanks — |
