We are having an issue with messages sporadically ending up in ‘Queued for Sending’. Today another pair of messages in the queue for Registration Approved to the registrant and admin. The payment received always goes out and both these approved message send successfully when using Send Immediately, but what can cause them to get stuck in the queue like this? Most registrations do not have this issue, it is sporadic and causes delays in the notification to admin.
One thing that can cause the delay is no hits to the site (or possibly even cached hits to the site). This is because wp_cron isn’t a true cron and relies on site activity (you can read a really good explanation here).
You can set the Messages > Settings to Send Messages on the same request to ensure they get sent out with no delay.
