Hi, I’m having a couple of issues configuring messages, and I have a question about that as well.

1. Email messages being sent out of event espresso are, for some reason, including all of our CSS. When I first attempted to edit the messages using the WYSIWYG editor, and inserted a graphic, the test email came through no problem. Then, when I edited a couple of the color codes in the HTML editor, all of a sudden this global CSS starts coming with the test email:

2. Also, in the first email we sent, we saw the email for our former web developers show up at the top. I think we’ve changed all the settings for this in EE, but I’m trying to think of where this might still be coming from. Can you help me understand where I should be looking for this? The message from gmail said, ‘This message may not have been sent by: <developer email>’

3. If I clone/copy an event. Will all of the message templates for that event automatically be copied as well?

Thanks!
Brent

Hi Brent,

1) Is this happening on all of the message types or only the one edited? As you mention this only happened after editing the template I’m wondering if the syntax is wrong somewhere. However usually when the CSS is included within the email the email is being marked as potential spam and sent as plain text, the email client will then try to output what it can.

2) Each message type (and context) has it’s own settings for ‘To’ and ‘From’. So for example the Registration Approved message type, in the Recipient context, has its own settings for ‘To’ and ‘From’ – http://take.ms/5Kr5p

Check the ‘From’ field is currently not set to [EVENT_AUTHOR] or similar. If your developer created the events with his own wp user account, the messages will use that accounts email address if it is set to [EVENT_AUTHOR]. You can change it to [CO_FORMATTED_EMAIL] to use the ‘Primary Email Address’ linked to your organisation name.

3) Duplicate events will default to the Global Message templates. However when you create custom message templates, those templates can then be selected within any event, not just the one that created it.

Which version of EE4 are you currently using?
