Since last week there seems to be a problem that messages are not send anymore on a regulary basis. I don’t know if it has to do with the latest update of EE to version 5.0.19.p or the general WordPress update to 6.5. But both has been updated last week and now I see that the messages are not send anymore on a regular basis.
I have just doublechecked the cron job (AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending) and I see that it is still sheduled for every 5 minutes, but apparently this does not happen.

Has this something to do with the latest updates?

Hi there,

But both has been updated last week and now I see that the messages are not send anymore on a regular basis.

So are messages still sending, but just not regularly?

I have just doublechecked the cron job (AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending) and I see that it is still sheduled for every 5 minutes, but apparently this does not happen.

The message system uses WP_Cron to send messages, so whilst we hook in and set a 5-minute interval it is also very much dependant on WP_CRON firing at those times (which by default requires a ‘hit’ on the site to trigger).

Are you using WP Crontrol to view the schedules? If so go to Dashboard -> Tools -> Cron Events.

Does it say anything about WP_CRON_DISABLE at the top of the page?

Hello Tony
This morning when I logged in I saw messages that are not being sent from yesterday evening. So I do think that messages are still send, but only once or twice a day. Before it was send every 5 minutes I think.

I have indeed WP control installed. It does not say anything about wp_cron_disbale and also no error messages.

For the moment I have for example 2 messages that are not being send. I clicked manually on “start now” with cron job AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending, but the messages are still not send.

There’s 2 stages for messages.

The first is message generation, which uses the Select this row AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__generation cron.

You do not mention that cron above, so do you have that one?

After they have generated they then wait for AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending to trigger.

So do your messages currently show up as having ‘no recipient’? If so they are waiting for generation.

Hello Tony, thank you for your quick reply. I double checked and I see that the cron “AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__generation” is missing. No idea how this is possible? After the update?

The messages are indeed currently shown as “no recipient”.

How can I restore this cron job?

In that case, do you have AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__cleanup listed?

Theres a check within that cron to confirm the others are set, run that cron.

Then check again for AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__generation

I have now run the cleanup cron manually and indeed the generation cron shows up again. After manually starting the generation and sending cron the messages are send. I will monitor the next 24 hours and will keep you updated.
