Hi

I’m trying to add styling to the email Messages which are sent to the user following successful purchase/registration.

I’ve read the documentation on the Variations and template Structure/Style but I’ve still found it very confusing. Is there a simple/shortened way of explaining how I go about styling the “Your Event Registration Details” anad the Print Your Tickets email messages?

Hi there,

The documentation assumes that the developer will have a working knowledge of PHP. Is there a part from the documentation that we can help explain in more detail?

Hi Josh

Thanks, some help would be fantastic. I thought EE would be great to go as a non-developer but I hope you can help.

I can format the structure of the emails with the HTML in the message, but I wanted to know how to load CSS so that I can format the message better (that is if CSS should/could be used in HTML emails). Mainly I want to do things like curved borders and nicely formatted buttons.

Adding new message template styles does require some PHP development skills, so you may wish to team up with a PHP developer to help make your customizations.

I can advise going back to the documentation for this and if want to modify an existing example, you can download the developer version of Event Espresso from github, which includes a few sample Message template pack variations. You’ll find the samples in this folder:

/tests/mocks/addons/new-messages-template-pack-variation/variations/

I’ll see if I can do it via the provided HTML templates. Had no idea the documentation would be as complicated (been too used to copying templates into theme for simple modification)

You don’t need the HTML templates. The variations only apply CSS. So to be clear, there’s a new-messages-template-pack-variation folder and a new-messages-template-pack folder.

The one that ends with -variation is the one with CSS, which should be all you need to re-style the Messages.
