The the Add to cart button can be used to either add multiple events to the cart, then when the user ‘views’ the cart, they can select the quantity of tickets and add registration information for those tickets/events, or can redirect the user directly to the cart once clicked.
The Register button on the event registration is for non MER registrations.
If you are using the Event lists, the add to cart will be displayed on those, but will need to modified to redirect the user directly when clicked. You can however include the cart link within the event description and hide the registration form, forcing the user to use the cart for all registrations.
So basically this depends on how you have your events set to display currently and which method you would prefer?
