I’m building a site that will need to have member and non-member events (different prices for each). I also would like to setup recurring payments or at least reminders for members for their yearly dues.
My site will have other membership capabilities (restricted content and member profiles). Will I be able to use the WP User integration plugin to integrate Event Espresso with my other membership plugins?
Also – does it matter if I use EE3 or EE4? I’m really confused about which one is better.
Just to make sure its clear, Event Espresso does no manager your memberships (even with the WP User Integration add-on) so the recurring payments and reminders for yearly dues would not be a part of EE.
With the EE4 User Integration Add-on you can set up your events to be member only and/or then set specific capabilities per ticket. This means that you can create different tickets for different membership levels, or have tickets only available if you are logged into the site.
So yes you can do what you are requesting here, but I just wanted to make sure you are aware that the membership options would need be controlled via a membership plugins such as S2 Member or Ultimate Member for example. EE doesn’t mind which plugin you use as long as your members have different capabilities you can use to reference each member level (if its just logged in and logged out any should work)

EE3 is the older system, it still has its use cases (recurring events being the main one) and still used by plenty of users without a problem.
EE4 is the newer system which uses custom post types and has more features than EE3 (although not all of the same functions)
Going forward EE3 eventually phased out (although there will be plenty of notice before this happens) once EE4 supports the same uses cases EE3 does.
So the answer of which is ‘better’ depends on your requirements. We would consider EE4 the ‘better’ system but really it depends on what you need. Can you post up some details of the types of events you will be hosting?
