Hi,

My client wants a website which requires membership levels i.e. ordinary users can book tickets for events, however users with a premium membership (billed annually) will receive discounted ticket prices. These premium members will also receive exclusive access to certain pages/content.

My concerns with Event Espresso are as follows:

1) No recurring billing possible with PayPal gateways
2) The S2 Membership integration is still in beta (and I’m not sure if this will allow me to set ticket prices according to user’s membership status)
3) Is Event Espresso designed to be mobile-responsive? Or is this dependant on the theme in use?

I’m also concerned that we’d need to submit an application form to demo Event Espresso. Surely you’d want your potential customers to be able to easily test-run your plugin?

Anyway, I’d love to know if the above issues can be addressed so I can decide whether or not Event Espresso is a possible option. Thanks!

Hi Zee, here is feedback on your questions:

1) No recurring billing possible with PayPal gateways
2) The S2 Membership integration is still in beta (and I’m not sure if this will allow me to set ticket prices according to user’s membership status)
3) Is Event Espresso designed to be mobile-responsive? Or is this dependant on the theme in use?

Recurring billing or membership billing is not currently available in Event Espresso.

The S2 membership add-on is in pre-release and allows you to offer different pricing by applying a discount: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/s2member-integration/

Event Espresso is not 100% responsive as it depends on the theme that is in use.

Completing the test drive form will provide you with information on how to login to the demo site.

Hi Lorenzo,

Thanks for your response.

I’m guessing I could process recurring membership payments via S2 Membership plugin, so that should be okay. In regards to whether EE is responsive, I plan to use the Genesis framework (by StudioPress), which is a mobile-responsive framework, so I’m hoping it will work out.

Is there an estimated date for the release of S2 Membership plugin integration?

And thank you for explaining about the demo form, appreciate it 🙂

Hi Z,

There is no date for a formal release of the S2 Membership plugin. If I’m honest I don’t think it will come out of Beta, at least not for EE3.

While it is a beta, it does work. It’s only focus is to change the level at which EE3 member discounts are given. So instead of being all logged in users, you can set it to start discounts at level 2 or etc.
