Email from member follows. Any ideas? “I breezed right up to proceed to payment options. I got a pop up saying that my email address is already in the system and to log in. I was logged in, but I tried to log in again. I got the message that my name or password is incorrect. Am I doing something wrong?” |

Hi John, It sounds like your site has the WP User Integration add-on activated. It has a feature that will tell the user to log into the account that’s associated with the email address that was input into the registration form. If they were already logged in, their email address would have been input into the form for them. |

Hi Josh, He used the email address that is found in the wp-eMember and the USER records so it should have worked. He is the treasurer of the SCMA so I used that email (totally different than the above) and that worked but nothing was propagated to the registration form. Please look deeper as this problem has affected one other member (non-officer) that I know of. Thanks |

Hi Jack, The fact that you could register the user using an email address outside of the current system means this is likely due to the WP User function Josh mentioned above. When logged into and account the First Name, Last Name and Email address on the registration form should be auto-filled when you load the checkout. If not (or the user changes the value of the email address) the EE will check if there is a user account with that email address and also confirm if they are the current user, if not you get the above error message. If you create a new user on the site using dummy details, then log into that user and try to register user those same dummy details within EE, does it work or through an error? |

Hi Tony, No, it not work. It wants me to login again. Jack |

Screenshots won’t help, can you send me the dummy login credentials so I can view the request? If so you can use this form: |

I sent the login details on 2/17/21. If you did not get them please email me at jlknorst@gmail.com Jack Knorst |

There effectively 2 login systems on your site, which as far as I can tell is what is causing the problem. I can be logged into your wp-admin, but logged out of your site. If I log in via However, you have a ‘Member login’ link at the top of the page, if I log into that I’m ‘logged in’ but not into the site, just some member area within it. You can view this yourself but opening a new private/ingocnito window and logging into Then go to Is it expected that your site is running 2 logins? That’s not something I’ve seen before and it won’t work with EE as is. |

My mistake, I had the testscma as a subscriber and not an admin. Is is fixed now. Jack |
|
I just tested again. It seems that when I log in as a member it did not propagate the fields in the registration form but when I logged in as an Admin it did. Jack |

Its not an issue with subscriber vs admin. Please re-read my reply, there’s a member area within your site that is not tied to logging into the WP Admin, that’s the problem and EE can’t work with that member setup. When you log into wp-admin, it works as expected but that member area within the site isn’t connected to logging in. I can sign into the WP Admin, then into the member area, then sign out of the member area and still be logged into the wp-admin. EE wont work with this setup. |
|
In WP-eMember Settings this box is checked. Would that be the problem? Automatically log into eMember: Jack |
|
That option sounds like it would be more the solution rather than the problem, meaning you could force users to log into the site using the WP login pages and they automatically get signed into WP-eMember, however that does appear to work as the account you gave me wasn’t automatically signed in. The member plugin you are using needs to integrate with WP users, mainly it needs to log the user into WP and not just the member area within the page. I don’t have an experience with WP-eMember but EE uses the globally logged in user from WordPress, if that’s different to whatever eMember is doing then it won’t work with that system (and is a very odd way to work with WP users). |
