since the promo code option is not available in ee4 I want to give free tickets to people that I have manually entered. I want to have those tickets e mailed and have the bar codes on them so we can check them in at the event. Possible? Oh, i do not want the invoice option to show for the paying ticket registration.

Hi Richard, please see this tutorial:

You’ll then need to add a payment for this transaction so that it removes the balance due.
For example, if the balance due for a ticket was $25, then you would add a payment of $25 with a note like this:
Event Admin – Complementary ticket
Then you could send out the registration details to the recipient.

Hi Richard, I wanted to share an update for members that may see this support post. This feedback applies specifically to Event Espresso 4.
Here is a tutorial for creating admin-only tickets and is much simpler than the prior solution that was shared:

These tickets will be hidden on the front-end and will appear in the WP dashboard for manual registrations.

Update: There’s actually an add-on that allows for creating admin-only tickets that doesn’t involve any CSS hacks:
