My EE is all of the sudden in maintenance mode and I need your support to get me out of maintenance mode so I can set up events today. I read the forum which was of no help to me as I do not have the technical expertise or confidence to back up data base and perform the functions described to remedy the situation. What do I need to do to get your technical support assistance asap?

Hi there,

Please login to your WordPress dashboard, then open the Event Espresso tab, then click on the menu item under Event Espresso > Extras > Maintenance. From there, you can activate or deactivate the maintenance mode. However, if there are database migrations that need to be performed, you should be able to run through the migrations, which should deactivate the maintenance mode on your site when finished.

Hi,

The database update is necessary because the newer versions of Event Espresso use a slightly different way to associate data related to registrations forms with events.

Here are a few options for backing up your database that you can use:

1) Contact your host and ask them to make a database backup
2) Install a WordPress plugin that adds a database backup to your WordPress site. Here’s a guide that reviews some recommendations:

after the database is backed up you can click the button to continue to update the database.

We can run the back and migration for you if purchase a support token.

However, to do this we’d need access to your host’s control panel to run a backup. Another option is to contact your host and ask them to run a database backup for you.

Or, install a plugin like BackUpWordpress and use that to run a backup (its pretty much one click and wait), if that fails, its best to contact your host and ask them to do it.

Once you have a backup (using whichever means you prefer) you can click through and run the migration.

It’s good practice to run a database backup before you run any plugin/theme updates (Not just Event Espresso but any of them) as if anything goes wrong, all of your data is saved to the database, so having a backup can be a lifesaver. The reason EE is requiring a backup is it is altering how some of the data is stored within the database for EE and so a backup is highly recommended (failures are rare but can happen).
