We have a customer that uses the MailChimp Addon with EE3 and they have a consistent problem where the MailChimp plugin ‘loses’ the API key.
Every few months, the customer contacts us to say MailChimp isn’t working and, when we check, the API key is just gone.
I don’t know this, but I’m guessing it happens after some periodic updates. When it happens, the fix is to re-paste in the key, but I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue consistently?
This used to be a consistent issue because an earlier version of the MailChimp for EE3 add-on had a call to update_option that would reset the MailChimp API key when the plugin was deactivated. It’s still there (but commented out now) in the event_espresso_mailchimp_deactivate() function.
I’m not sure how that would happen anymore, but you could check to see if there are any custom actions being added to the event_espresso_mailchimp_post_deactivate action hook.
