I normally use Chrome for all my browsing and website work, but today I happened to use Safari when I wanted to download a .csv of registrations. Oddly, what downloaded was a “.csv.html” file which Excel did not interpret as a .csv file (no surprise). Changing the file type by taking the .html off allowed it to open correctly in Excel, but why do this to begin with? And while that isn’t an ‘illegal’ use of file type extensions, I’m sure it’s not recommended.
Repeated the experiment in Chrome with everything else unchanged and got the expected .csv file. Not an urgent problem, but maybe not everyone would know what to do with this. Might have been a long term problem but I’m sure this is the first time I’ve tried exactly this activity in Safari; didn’t find any other mention in forum.
I was able to verify this issue with the current release and I’ve created a report for the development team. It appears to be specific to Safari so for now, using an alternative web browser such as Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer, or Firefox should work.
