Hi there-
A previous webmaster has overwritten my Event Espresso and we lost all the data. The events, attendees, sales, etc. What database/table within wordpress might I find this data? Is it part of the event espresso core reg file? Or is this data stored in a different wordpress table?
Do you have any further recommendations for how I recover this information?

Looking forward to your assistance.

Best,
Kim

Hi Kim,

Depending on what has happened the data will either still be in the database or you may need to resort to the last backup copy of your database.

If the webmaster has simply updated the plugin from an older version it could be as simple as the events being hidden. In newer versions the event overview hides any event that is not currently active, so you may want to check this via the filters above the overview table.

Also in newer versions, deleted events are not deleted, merely “soft deleted”, in that they are still part of the database.

If he has modified/deleted/done something to the database, then that is a different matter entirely.

Event Espresso for the most part uses it’s own tables.

In EE3 it will be prefix_events_*

In EE4 it will be prefix_esp_*

prefix = the database prefix, often wp_ but could be different
* = the actual name of the table e.g. attendee_meta

If the database has been modified incorrectly, then reverting to a backup is pretty much the only solution.

Hi there-

I ended up having to just say goodbye to all my past data and start fresh with a new upload of EE4. However, before I did this what I found was there was a database error. It said to send EE this:
Array
(
[ee_version] => 4.4.0.p
[ee_activation_history] => Array
(

I am ok with starting fresh and losing all the old data, but I do not want this to happen again with a future upgrade. Can you take a look at our EE4 tables, run tests, or do whatever needs to be done to ensure that our databases/tables are not corrupt and will be able to update seamlessly in the future?

Let me know and I can send you any cpanel info you may need.

thanks,
Kim

I am now getting THIS when trying to post an event:

Fatal error: Call to a member function venues() on a non-object in /home/thecosn5/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/caffeinated/admin/new/venues/espresso_events_Venues_Hooks.class.php on line 142

getting this when I post a venue:
Something has gone wrong with the page load because we are unable to set up the object for the Venue. This usually happens when the given id for the page route is NOT for the correct custom post type for this page EE_Admin_Page_CPT – verify_cpt_object – 629

Hi,

One of the database tables may not have been created correctly. Is this a Windows based server?

I’m not sure what a windows based server is, i don’t think so. I use hostnine as my server.

How can we rectify this?

Yes, something definitely seems wrong with the database tables. My client is willing to lose all old data, as long as moving forward we don’t lose events again…aka as long as the next time we upgrade this doesn’t happen again.

With this said, how can we rectify this? If it’s a clean start it shouldn’t be too bad, right?

Please advise.

Hi Jen_CP,

Please verify with hostnine and verify that the server is Linux/Apache or Nginx. If it’s a Windows server, you can ask them to migrate to one of the above options.

Along with that, I can advise setting up regularly scheduled daily backups. There are a number of free WordPress plugins that can be installed and set up to email the database table backups to you.

We run Linux/Apache.As for backups, Josh I’m not sure you understand the problem. I can’t get Event Espresso to work because i am getting fatal errors everytime I try to creae an event so backing up the database is kind of superfluous at this point.

Hi Jen,

Thanks for clarifying. Can you try going to the Event Espresso Maintenance page and resetting Event Espresso’s data? This will help if there’s still left over data from the previous install.

nope did that, then reinstalled and got this:
Error inserting values ,,2138,email,payment,1,,,1 for columns MTP_name,MTP_description,MTP_user_id,MTP_messenger,MTP_message_type,MTP_is_global,MTP_is_override,MTP_deleted,MTP_is_active, using data types %s,%s,%d,%s,%s,%d,%d,%d,%d, into table wp_esp_message_template_group. Error was Table ‘thecosn5_cosmicpath_wp_live.wp_esp_message_template_group’ doesn’t exist EEM_Base – _insert_into_specific_table – 1375

It seems that the tables are not being deleted even when I try to

Please see video to see the problem(s) we’re having.

I’ve tried erasing the tables, records, etc and then deleting EE and reinstalling it. It must not delete the tables or info because when I reinstall EE it says a previous version has been recognized.

Just so you know we are running php 5.4

Here is a video of the errors and how they appear….REALLY need to get an event up today, if there is a way I can pay for one on one imediate EE support I will!!
