The link, Submit Payment, does not work in the PayPal page registrants are referred to during registration process. |

Hi there, We’d be glad to help, but in order to do so, can you give us more information?: – Can you provide us a link to an event page so we can try to see this happening in action? |

Can you send me a video of that happening? I was able to get to the PayPal screens just fine to login and one click from submitting payment: https://www.screencast.com/t/WPcSEiIA8oMY |

Thank you. It will be easier for me to explain the difference with your video and what is happening to my clients who are trying to register. When you clicked the green button, “Submit my Registration,” a window opened stating, “Please wait while we process your registration…” Then a page opened with a window stating: “Forwarding to Secure Payment Provider…” This does not happen for my clients. Nothing happens when they click the “Submit my Registration” button. The page is frozen. |
Can your client send a video of that happening? Does it happen for you too? If someone who can reproduce the problem can give us more information that would help. For example, looking at the Developer Console to see if there are errors. |
I will find a client who will be able to make a video. |
Please have them also try to capture any console errors. |
Will do. Thank you. |
Please Blur if there’s any information needed to be blurred, and send it to our email support[at]eventespresso.com Also, its a common mistake that people just click submit without selecting the payment method needed. We will be waiting for the video thanks |

I sent a video to the email address above. Yes, I understand the common mistake of trying to submit without selecting the payment method, especially when PayPal is the only payment method offered, but I do not think that is the issue here. These clients have registered for events before. I am becoming concerned because the first group receiving the link to register is much smaller than the next group that will have access to the link July 1. I am hoping we can solve this issue as soon as possible. I appreciate your help. |

Once people are passed from Event Espresso to PayPal, their processes take over and we don’t have much to do with the transaction until they come back to Event Espresso from PayPal. Does that happen no matter what mobile browser you’re using, e.g. try Chrome. Does it happen on a desktop too or only mobile? |
It happens on Chrome and Safari, desktop and mobile. |

Hi there, I’ve not see that issue before, your users are getting ‘stuck’ on the PayPal options but that’s not a page/output controlled by Event Espresso itself. To explain a little, you are using PayPal Standard and the way that payment method works is we set up a link with the transaction details which sends you to PayPal. PayPal uses the values set in the link to generate a checkout page and that’s where your users are getting stuck. The problem is we don’t have any control over that page, we can basically just pass over specific details for the payment amount, currency, line items etc and they handle the rest of the output. Now, having said all of that we deprecated PayPal Standard a while back due to how unreliable it can be (again I’ve not seen this specific issue before) so I would actually recommend moving away from it. You can still use PayPal and the same account type you have now but a different integration method which we have within core. If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods, which PayPal payment methods do you see listed there? |
PayPal Standard is listed. There is a button to the left of the PayPal Standard button that says PayPal Commerce. When I hover over it, it says “Modify this Payment Method”. Do I need to do something on the PayPal website before clicking this button? What changes would there be to the fee structure? I’m also wondering about adding the payment option of Square at this time. Is it possible to use that as an additional payment method? |
No. Click on PayPal Commerce and then click activate payment method, that will activate PayPal Commerce within your install of Event Espresso. You then connect your PayPal account and we have some details here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-commerce-checkout-payment-gateway/
From us? None. As far as I am aware PayPal fee structure is also the same for both integrations.
Sure, you can use as many payment methods within Event Espresso as you like. |
Thank you, Tony. I will get to work on this and hope it is the solution needed. I appreciate the support team and their patience and will let you know the outcome of these changes. Thanks, |
Well, I asked a registrant to try again and the same thing happened as in the video I sent earlier. The page froze and they couldn’t finish the registration process. |
I can see you have both PayPal Standard and PayPal Commerce active at the same time, so it sounds like they used the PayPal Standard option. You should disable PayPal Standard and only have PayPal Commerce active so they don’t try using the old method. |
Ugh! I thought it was disabled! What is the process to disable it that I missed? Thank you! |
Hmmm…I guess the deactivation button didn’t respond when I tried it yesterday. Thus both options were given. I think I have it deactivated now. Hoping this works. Thank you, again. |
